…when word got out on social media in recent days that ______ was planning to get married days after his sentencing, and the invitation that was posted on Facebook talked of the “fairytale” relationship, the you-know-what hit the proverbial fan.
The wedding was to be held Saturday at South Granville Congregational Church.
Pastor Rick Backus said that he was aware _____ had been accused of child sexual abuse after the wedding was booked, but in light of the fact he hadn’t been convicted the wedding was going to be allowed. But after he was sentenced last week, Backus said it was decided the church would not allow the ceremony under the circumstances.
Many reached out to the church through Facebook on Monday and Tuesday to express their concerns about the wedding, before learning the church had pulled the plug. Some talked about going to the church to protest during the wedding.
“My phone was going off like crazy,” Backus said. “I got about two hours of sleep last night.”

That’s terrible that this church has succumbed to politics and mob mentality.
I’m tired of all my fellow Oppressed Citizens doing a whole lotta of talking and little useful action to truly fight the Criminal Regime and it’s constant attacks on our freedom, liberties and lives. Our forefathers were willing to fight– and even die– for these things! It’s abundantly clear that the only real means at our disposal to defend and protect ourselves, our rights , liberties…and lives is to do whatever is necessary, nothing less, to fight this system of things at every opportunity and with whatever amount of determination is needed!
We are fools if we stand idly by, doing nothing but complaining or appealing to the common sense and empathy of the people who make and enforce these unjust laws…it’s time to fight!
FYI the original article took the wrong spin on the Pastor’s decision. The pastor and the couple *mutually* agreed to withdraw the public service due to the threats from an ex, who was also responsible for getting the word out to the public about the service and was responsible for fomenting protests. The couple decided instead to hold the service in private for the church’s and their own protection.
The pastor re-iterated that they are always welcome at the church and fully accepted by the church and its congregation.
